SHAMANIC HEALING OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
Child sexual abuse is a scourge and it is ubiquitous. One in three children are sexually assaulted by adults and the effects of this grievous harm can last a lifetime. While the world is finally waking up to the heinous and widespread occurrence of child abuse, we all have responsibility to know as much as we can about this deviant and dysfunctional darkness operating in our midst. The difficulty with that is, because we have an innate revulsion for this topic, we tend not to want to go near this subject, let alone have a navigable understanding of it nor how to address it.
CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IS EVERYONE’S BUSINESS
Despite child sexual assault being unpleasant to examine, it is everybody’s business. Unless we all see it and have some way to understand it, it will continue unabated in the shadows. In the west the criminal justice system cannot alone be relied upon to tackle this enormous issue, as fewer than one percent of all known cases result in criminal convictions against perpetrators. Therefore we all have a responsibility to know about it in a meaningful way, so that we know what to look for and how to stand united against it. It is only when we look at child abuse directly, and the dynamics at play behind it, that we can be the change that we want to see in our world and keep those who are most vulnerable and at risk safe.
SHAMANIC TREATMENT FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
Aside from regular wound work, shamanism has a very specific understanding of the energetics behind child sexual abuse that is quite different from our understanding in the west. In the west, deviance and dysfunction of the perpetrator alone tend to dominate our understanding of why child abuse occurs. However, in energy medicine, all cases of child sexual abuse occur where the perpetrator has a specific type of possession illness that incites him (93% of child sexual abusers are male) to be an abuser.
Possession illness is just one of a number of ways that child sexual abuse is inadequately understood, and therefore treated, in the west. Another is with ‘soul loss’ and the shamanic treatment of ‘soul retrieval’. In the west we do not have a clear understanding of what ‘the soul’ is, or even if such a thing exists. In shamanism, however, the soul is the composite component of the self that from which, when extreme trauma occurs, fragments can peel away and flee from the person. In shamanism this is known as soul loss, the treatment for which is soul retrieval.
So what does that mean for the victims and the perpetrators, and the practitioners working with one or other or both groups? It means that the western model for addressing child sexual abuse is glaringly deficient and that turning to an energy medicine model for healing will be more effective and more efficient than the western model of psychotherapy (usually) alone.
SHAMANIC COURSE INTRODUCING TREATMENT FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
To flesh out these deficiencies, I am offering a 4-day course over two weekends, especially designed for victims of child sexual abuse and practitioners wanting to know more about these treatments for themselves and their clients. Shamanic treatment for the trauma associated with child sexual abuse can help heal a client in a fraction of the time that it can take when compared to treatment with a western healing model. This course is not a therapy course, although some therapeutic healing may occur as a result of taking part.
This course will not teach how to do all of these shamanic treatments, in particular depossession nor soul retrieval, but instead this short, intensive course will map out the key shamanic pieces of healing treatments required to help a client to radically transform his or her world view from fear to safety, and to deliver a sense of self from torment to peace. The main steps we will address for healing from child sexual abuse include wounding (neglect, violence, molestation), the specifics of the interference from malevolent spirits attached to this energy field, and what soul loss is and how it is addressed in a shamanic context.
While some of the content material of this course may be disturbing for some people, we shall address the issues in a gentle and compassionate way. However, this course is only suitable for those who can self-regulate (those who have done sufficient personal work so that they can self-soothe and navigate this terrain in a compassionate but relatively detached way). For survivors of child sexual abuse, this course will help you to understand your healing journey better and to know the steps along that journey that you may perhaps have yet to address. For professional healers, either with many years experience or those who are new to this field and are curious to know more, this course will outline a roadmap of healing, from a shamanic perspective, for your clients who are victims and survivors of child sexual abuse.
No previous experience is necessary.
