Currently, we are seeing the United States slowly and quickly becoming a fascist state. When we thought we were done with fascism in the twentieth century in the West, it raises its head again like a spectre from the past, the dying thrashes of an idea, intent on any harm that it can produce.

But where does this energy come from, and why is it here again?

End of an Era of Evil — Last Grab for Power

The energies that we are seeing rising on the world stage right now are the same energies that fired and fuelled the Third Reich. These energies once dominated the era of the US empire, strongman politics, capitalism, dictatorships, power-over and a western ‘culture of hierarchies’. But that era over and its influence is dying, and these energies know it, so instead of leaving quietly, this energy is rising now again, in a last flailing grab for a type of power that belongs to an era that we have evolved beyond.

At the core of the ideology of that era was a hierarchy of seeing ‘other’ as ‘less than’. Now, we are seeing this model with a new perspective. The word ‘apocalypse’ comes from the Greek, ‘apokalupsis’, meaning, ‘to reveal’. Everything that was hidden is being revealed and our understanding of that era will be changed forever. Imperialism, nationalism and the might of empires that ‘castigate and punish’, etc., are being seen with their inner greed exposed. We are no longer just seeing those systems from the perspective of the powerful; we are now seeing the impact of those systems from the perspectives of the oppressed.

Mired in oppressive regimes, the subjugated struggled to survive, while the rich and powerful were gluttonous with the resulting wealth. The tables are turning and the infrastructures that supported inequality and oppression from the ‘old’ era are imploding. The recent anti-inclusivity policies of US President Donald Trump, for instance, are a last-grab attempt at retaining the old world order, to divide and conquer populations in an effort to dominate and control. But people are waking up to the challenges of trans people and those people are becoming allies. For divide and conquer dynamics to work, populations need to believe in those divisions. We are evolved enough now to see that we are all part of the same eco-system, all different but all equal, and that our differences do not prevent allegiance or support for one another, and together, we all survive and thrive.

So, why are we seeing an upsurge in this retro-evolved energy in the world today? How come the alt-right movement is popular? How come far right nationalism and fascism is to the fore again, polarising the world?

Evil Falling Away

There’s a famous storyline in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Fellowship of the Ring, the first in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, where Gandalf confronts a balrog in the Mines of Moria.

In the sequence, Frodo Baggins and his band of followers, carrying the evil ‘Ring of Power’ that they intend to destroy in the fires of Mordor, are fleeing orcs and crossing a bridge over a dark abyss when they encounter the balrog who is a fiery demon ‘of shadow and flame’. The balrog, known as Durin’s Bane, was originally a servant to Morgoth who was an ancient being and the primary source of evil on Middle-earth. Morgoth was the precursor to Sauron, who crafted the Ring of Power to rule all the other races of Middle-earth.

Upon seeing the balrog, the group stops, aghast. Gandalf turns to face the demon alone, and, raising his staff, shouts: “You cannot pass!” He then strikes the bridge with his staff, causing the bridge to collapse, which plunges the balrog into the abyss. As the balrog falls, it throws up a fiery whip that catches Gandalf’s ankle and causes the wizard to lose his footing. Clinging to the edge of the bridge, Gandalf says to the others, “Fly, you fools!”, before falling into the abyss after the balrog.

This sequence is a powerful analogy for what we are seeing unfolding in the world right now. The balrog represents an evil that has been in existence since before the beginning of the world, and been allowed to rein unchecked. For more on this topic see here. Gandalf represents the ‘force of will’ that goodness possesses to prevent evil from destroying everything that we cherish and hold sacred in this world: life itself. The Ring of Power represents the means through which evil can destroy us all; temptation, greed, corruption, inaction and fear. The remaining members of the Fellowship, who watch helpless as the interaction between the balrog and Gandalf unfolds, represent us.. we, who are seeing these epic forces play out on the world stage in real time, asking ourselves, ‘What can we do?’

And the balrog’s fiery whip. Even as the balrog falls into the abyss, its’ era over, it cannot leave the stage without dragging as much goodness as it can down with it, because that is its nature. And that is what we are seeing in the world right now; the end of an era of evil, trying to whip up support so that it can drag whatever it can down with it as it falls.

Evil is being revealed for its selfishness and greed and, with the rise of fascism again, has invited those who have fascist sympathies to side with it (in the ‘me’ camp). Contrary to that, those who feel within the ‘force of will’ that goodness possesses, that inner strength that feels called to stand against oppression (in the ‘we’ camp). Let’s look at these forces of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ and how they are playing out in the world today.

The Evil We Face

The forces playing out in the world today are not ascribable to personalities and situations alone. The problems we face are only vehicles for our true selves to flow into the world. The goodness in the world is who we are and how we belong to each other; this is our true nature. Inhumanity is not our nature, far from it, and it did not begin with us.

In actuality, as far-fetched as it sounds, the force of evil has a consciousness all of its own; it is alive as an energy in its own right. For more on this topic, see here. Evil is ‘anti-human’ in its intention; it is ‘anti-life’. I have seen this energy myself and routinely work with it, clearing it from clients who have inherited it. It abhors anything that we hold as ‘precious’ in our hearts, and relishes the desecration of the sacred.

This energy is responsible for the entitlement of narcissism, colonialism, capitalist greed, genocide, war, slavery, the Female Pain Body and more. I call this energy ‘Dark Side’, and it seeks to induce humans to fall into its darkness and the havoc that it wreaks. But how does it do that?

Possession Illness as a Method of Controlling the World

Dark Side’s main method of control is, using stealth, to invade the minds/energy bodies of humans, through ‘possession illness’, to have its will enacted in the world. In shamanism today, possession by ‘evil spirits’ is a very, very real thing, and in actuality is more pervasive than you might think. The vast majority of people who are carrying foreign energies in their energy systems are completely unaware that they are doing so. Cases of ‘extreme’ Hollywood-type possession are rare. But Dark Side itself is not rare and in its ubiquity, it has chosen stealth to invade our spaces and our lives, to ‘fly under the radar’, to remain undetected, posing as our own minds, so as to remain unchallenged.

Who is at risk? Some people are more immune to this influence than others. People who are narcissistic, under-evolved, self-oriented, feckless and reckless, or over-indulged, are more susceptible to its allurement. People who are traumatised, broken or emotionally stunted are more easily manipulated and controlled by it.

Once under the impression of this energy, we are “suggested” to by the possessing spirit(s), through words we hear or feelings that we feel in our bodies. These words or feelings do not belong to us. As we go through incidents in our lives, we make choices, and if we choose to align with the suggestions from these spirits, incrementally their control takes hold and that person becomes someone he wasn’t before; something that was never in his nature has overshadowed him, become him, and in his core, his empathy is rotted and he has become dead inside.

The personality that wilfully succumbs to this evil, and comes to identify as it, is narcissistic. (The traumatised are simply tormented by it.) Dark Side loves narcissists for this reason and successfully used leaders with this personality disorder for hundreds of years of ‘power over’. This last epoch culminated in the rise, and the coming to prominence, of narcissistic culture in the world. And it was the possession of people with narcissistic-potential by Dark Side that was the root cause, and the method by which, evil has infested and come to rule the world over the last epoch.

If We Knew We Were Being Manipulated, Would We Have Done it?

We are influenced by these energies, yes, and we give embodiment to them, yes, but do we know that that goading voice in our head is not only not ours, but it is not even our friend? If we had known that a foreign energy had us under its influence, would we have been so willing? If we knew we were being manipulated, would we have engaged in genocide, slavery, etc.? Would knowing about possession illness have given us pause?
